Manchester Hilton Hotel, Deansgate
We stayed at the Hilton Manchester in October 2012, to review this hotel.
The building is an iconic landmark in Manchester, being the tallest skyscraper in the city. The top half is all apartments and the lower half is the Hilton hotel, with Cloud 23 bar in the middle.
Check in was efficient and the staff were welcoming. We were shown to our room on the 17th floor. The room was spacious enough and the view was fantastic, looking over the city centre - Town hall, Cathedral and right along Deansgate, the main street through Manchester. It was modern, clean and well maintained.
We had cocktails in Cloud 23 which again has great views and has been recently upgraded with table service and more seating areas. The cocktails are pricey which you expect (£8-£15), but they are well served and of good quality.
The Hilton hotel has a young, trendy feel. It is right in the heart of the city centre so is perfect for a shopping/night out weekend. I've dined a couple of times at Podium the restaurant on the ground floor, they often have a special offer of 3 courses and wine for under £30 which can be booked online.
For a special stay the Hilton is definitely the place to stay purely for the amazing views, its around £170 for the night so it's worth going to the bar and enjoying the room, not somewhere to stay if you just want a bed for the night.
The Lowry ( the only 5 Star in Manchester) has a relaxed feel and is set slightly back from all the hustle and bustle but unlike the Hilton doesn't have a pool.
Parking at the Hilton is £25 for valet for 24 hours, though Deansgate train station is 2 minutes walk away. Taxis are outside the hotel all the time which is handy for getting around. Our room rate didn't include breakfast so I can't comment on that.
Check out was straightforward, again the staff were good. Overall its a fun place to stay.
